Holiday Party Games for Everyone
During many of the yearly holidays families use the celebration time to spend special time with their family and friends. If you are gathering with family and/or friends during a holiday, party games are a very appropriate and fun way to celebrate. Many common get together games can easily be altered to have a theme representing a certain holiday. Party throwers can turn activities such as charades and trivia into holiday party games for kids and adults.
You can set up special holiday versions of these party games simply by creating a bank of questions or topics that pertain to the holiday being celebrated. One great example would be to make Christmas trivia. Because there is so much history and tradition celebrated during Christmas you can make trivia holiday party games with facts about the traditions.
Bingo is another common game popular for family parties or community festivals. It can be creatively changed into a holiday party game for any season. For example, Valentines bingo can be created by making or printing out bingo cards that have candy hearts with phrases in place of the numbers. Where you would normally have the word "bingo" across the top, choose a word or phrase that symbolizes Valentine's Day. Use paper hearts or blank candy hearts to cover the card blocks that are called out.
If there are younger children at your holiday parties you should try giving them printable holiday party games like word hunts and secret codes. These holiday party games are easy because you can print them from software programs or online and they are adapted to the appropriate holiday. The words used, shape and decorations are all things that symbolize the holiday occurring.
For family gatherings, or close friends, during the holidays you may want more family oriented party games. Name that tune is a classic game you can play year-round. For a holiday you need to find music specifically for the holiday such as Christmas tunes or funny and scary Halloween music. You can make the rules and teams as needed and play each song separately while everyone works together to guess the tune.
The children's game memory can be fixed into a great family holiday party game. The adults of the family need to make cards with a picture and brief description of each person in the family. There should be two cards for each person. Lay the cards out face down and play just like memory by flipping them over and trying to match two of the same. This fun for the kids to play while the adults watch and explain the history and relationships between the whole family. Adults get to reminisce and the kids learn about their family.
