Celebrating with Halloween Party Games

Halloween is widely celebrated among kids and adults and Halloween party games are played and enjoyed by both as well. Halloween party games are a fun part of celebrating the holiday. There are many Halloween party games that can be played by kids, adults or as families if both children and adults are celebrating Halloween together. Young kid's Halloween party games are often taken from everyday, year-round classroom games. You can simply change the decorations of game props to fit Halloween. For other games that need a Halloween theme, you can change out certain props and use seasonally appropriate props.

As with most family or child oriented holidays or parties, the games require a winner but the purpose is not the competition. If you decide to award prizes to the winners, be sure that everyone eventually receives something. For Halloween party games you may find it convenient to award small candy prizes since there are so many specialized Halloween candies.

Whether you are at a Halloween party that is a city wide festival or if you plan your own friends and family party, the games should to be nearly continuous and available for all ages. A great idea for large Halloween parties is to have several games going on at once so everyone can find something for their interests. Halloween party games such as bobbing for apples and bean bag tosses are old favorites.

There are several creative ways to warp commonly liked sports into Halloween party games. One idea creates a golfing game from pumpkins. To do this you need to carve a pumpkin and make sure the mouth is extra big. Next you make a cardboard or wooden ramp leading from the floor to the mouth and tape it all down. Set a starting point a few feet away, however you see appropriate, then kids and adults can start putting. You can use this game as a fun activity or set rules and make a game between individuals or teams.

Bowling is another sport you can morph into Halloween party games. You need a bundle of pumpkins (3-6 inches in diameter) to use as bowling balls. Set up children's plastic bowling pins or use plastic one liter bottles. Mark off the starting distance and have games of bowling in your yard or house. You could even decorate the pins for an addition to the Halloween theme.

Look up additional Halloween party games online or make up your own. For family parties, having Halloween party games that involve making crafts might also be a great party addition. The adults could have a pumpkin carving contest and the kids can paint the pumpkins to make their jack-o-lanterns. Set up different categories, such as scariest and funniest, so that there will be winners for every type of jack-o-lantern instead of one overall winner.
